[Thanks to NB for sharing her favorite career resources list containing specific resources related to the nursing field.]

- http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos083.htm. The Occupational Outlook Handbook has a lot of information on becoming a registered nurse. This resource can be found online and gives you the basic outline of schooling, requirements, and so forth, including recommendations of schools that are known for their nursing certification.
- http://www.allnursingschools.com/faqs/be_rn. This resource on becoming a registered nurse is found online and provides an outline starting from when you are first becoming a registered nurse and then working your way up to every level, including the amount of time it will or can take to get there.
- http://www.allnursingschools.com/faqs/np.php. This online resource basically shows you what education you need to get to that you can become a nurse practitioner (NP). There is also a discussion about what an NP is to make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.
- A registered nurse working in Labor and Delivery. This resource is actually a person I interviewed to learn more information about being a registered nurse. After talking to her, she has been sending me updates via e-mail and letting me know what options are good for me in terms of where I should go to school as well as volunteer work opportunities.
- My aunt who’s a registered nurse in an ER. She gives me a lot of good advice and motivation, telling me not to give up because the process to where I want to be is not going to be easy.
I would have to say that resource numbers 1, 4, and 5 listed above are my favorite because it’s good to get actual facts online and then be able to hear them in person and know the ins and outs of what really goes on. I plan on going to these resources whenever I’m in need of any kind of information or even motivation.
