[Thanks to Steph for sharing her favorite career resources list consisting of resources related to the child development field.]

To find more information on child development, I have been using mainly:

  1. CollegeBoard.com
  2. PrincetonReview.com
  3. The resources at my college

I have also used the San Francisco State University (SFSU) child development advisers and the resources at Sarah Lawrence University, which has an amazing child development program.

These all are in relation to the child development major. As much as I would want to get into journalism, I really don’t have the attention span for it. But the first 3 resources I listed would be a lot of help to pretty much any major/career.

CollegeBoard.com gives you the resources you would need when researching a specific major, including what you will be learning, finding the school that would be ideal, and even the careers that would be ideal with that major. This site also caters to the parents who want to make sure their kids have chosen the right place.

PrinctonReview.com also is college based, but it does have some helpful pages where you can find a major that is in line with the career you have already chosen. It is mostly for high schoolers to align themselves with the right college, but it’s still helpful for college students.

My college not only has a career center, but the counselors are prepared to let you know all the facts about graduating with whichever major and what career you will be able to get into with that major.

SFSU and Sarah Lawrence are schools that have child development programs. SFSU will be a bit more generalized, considering it is a state school that has tons of different majors, but you can still find a ton of information about the topic. Sarah Lawrence actually has a college that is fully devoted to child development, and the counselors there are incredible with helping you fine tune the career you want and get the major you will need for that career.

So far my favorite resource has been my college counselors. They have really helped me get the classes I need to be in to transfer to SFSU, while keeping child development in mind.
