[Thanks to Taryn for sharing her favorite career resources list consisting of resources related to the respiratory therapy field.]

respiratory maskList five specific career related resources:

Which occupation, career or major each resource pertains to:

  • All of my resources pertain to working as a respiratory therapist.

A description for each resource:

  1. www.bls.gov is a government resource that contains actual statistics and data collected from all over the U.S. for the actual job. I find it to be a great resource because it gives real facts and not just what someone thinks.
  2. www.aarc.org is the American Association for Respiratory Care website. This provides great information on education requirements, government affairs, and a simple insight into what they like to stay up to date about.
  3. www.caahep.org is a great website because it lists what schools and programs are actually accredited for respiratory therapy. You could go to an RT program, but unless it is accredited, your degree would be useless.
  4. www.nbrc.org is the national board for respiratory care. This helps give a great insight of the steps I will need to complete after I have completed my program. This site covers all of the legalities.
  5. Finally, www.monster.com has a job board website. This kind of gives me an idea of the amount of jobs available, the various hospitals I could work for and what their requirements are.

Why the resource is a favorite:

  • I equally enjoy all of the resources because they paint a whole picture for me. I get facts straight from the source, people who are in the field and decide what standards I must meet to get into the field.
