[Thanks to Sam for sharing his list of favorite resources for musicians.]
1. http://education-portal.com/top_ten_music_colleges.html
That site is a list on the top music colleges in the country. It lists the schools from best to worst, giving the contact info and the list of majors offered. It also gives the average salary for the related careers. And I found interesting that it doesn’t even list musicians/performers on the graph of average salaries.
That site lets you find a band or people to play music with for a career. It has options for people seeking bands, bands seeking people, and even trying to find teaching positions.
3. http://www.musicianscontact.com/
This site is similar to the number 2 site in the sense that it also lets u search for musicians to play with or post an ad requesting a position. The difference with this site is that its much more general and simple. So here you search for musicians in general rather than specifically being in a band.
This site is more like a social network site, you set up an account that has your personal info. Then you can post or reply to posts about music gigs. Its all free and more community based than the previous sites.
This site is more like a search engine but purely for music related jobs. It will also find posts about music jobs being offered. It tells you when the job was posted too, so it’s a mix of craigslist.com and google.
6. http://www.entertainmentcareers.net/
This site is much more general and not necessarily about music jobs, but instead it focuses on jobs in the entertainment industry in general. It also focuses on internships as opposed to full on careers although it still does have a list of those.
7. http://www.proship.com/en/entertainers/apply-today/musicians.html
This site has you apply a form depending on what career you are looking for. I would be looking for a music performance career so I would fill the form that applies to that. Then it works like a dating site I think and sends you an email or notification when it finds a match.
8. http://www.velvetrope.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=1&page=1
This site is less about finding music careers and more about keeping up with the music industry itself. I think this site can be very helpful in figuring out what part of the industry to go to or which record company to sign with if given the chance.
9. http://www.mi2n.com/topics/rock.php3
This site is another site to keep up with the music industry. This one is focusing more on what the individual bands are doing and releasing rather than the record companies.
10. http://www.musicianreferral.com/
This site is another site to get referrals for your band or just you as a musician. The reason I put this site last though is because the site requires a yearly fee of over 100 dollars a year. And that’s just too much for me to get this service.
